Mark Watson Media

Mark Watson’s primary focus for the past ten years has been sports broadcasting where he established himself as one of New Zealand’s leading sports radio hosts across Radio Sport and Newstalk ZB. He has been a commentator at four consecutive Olympic Games.

In addition to this Mark fulfilled his child hood dream of being a sports commentator and has worked as a lead commentator and as an expert commentator at four consecutive Olympic Games, and two Commonwealth Games, covering more than twelve different sports.

Prior to getting into the mainstream media, Mark mastered the art of communication as a live event commentator and MC. He has worked on many of New Zealand’s leading sport events over the years including nine NZ Road Cycling Nationals and almost every major Marathon and Triathlon in New Zealand. As an MC and After Diner Speaker, Mark has done it all; from small sports clubs to large corporate functions. His greatest privilege was being asked by Sir John Walker (1976 Olympic 1500m Champion) to MC a fundraising breakfast for his Find Your Field of Dreams Foundation. The breakfast celebrated the fortieth anniversary of Sir John breaking three minutes fifty for the mile.

In recent times Mark has channelled more of his energy into writing articles and opinion pieces that are regularly picked up by Fairfax media and Stuff.co.nz. He has previously written for Rugby News and numerous multi-Sport publications.

When Mark is not talking sport or sharing his passion and enthusiasm for life, he can normally be found living out at Muriwai, and hanging out with his wife and two kids.
